Baton Rouge’s Capitol City Produce broke ground on its 72,000 sqft expansion in early November. Five-S will perform all earthwork for the project’s contractor, Stellar, of Jacksonville, FL.
While attending the groundbreaking ceremony, Capitol City Produce owner, Paul Ferachi, reflected on the last 75 years in business. Capitol City Produce is a family-owned, fourth-generation, Louisiana-based business. The company’s expansion will create new opportunities for Louisiana families not only by expanding the facilities and creating new jobs but also with Capitol City’s commitment to locally sourced produce.
Five-S is proud to be at the forefront of the project. Seeing a fourth-generation family-owned business grow and support the capital region hits close to home for Five-S.
Five-S was formed out of the Acadian region and strong family values are the foundation of the company. The four Smith sons and their father farmed rice and crawfish and their father’s entrepreneurial spirit can be found at the core of CEO, Andre Smith’s, passion for civil construction and construction technology.

Naomi began her journey with Five-S in 2016. She brings extensive knowledge of Five-S and our industry to customers. She prioritizes safety and is truly passionate about her job. Naomi says the best part about working for Five-S is the amazing people she gets to work with and the progress and growth of our company. “It is so visible that where we started and what we have become is centered around professionalism from the ground up”. Naomi considers herself a #dirtnerd and she loves working in the scale house at our dirt mine in Texas. We are so grateful to have her be a part of the Five-S team. Keep up the great work Naomi!
