Five-S Group is awarded a Prime contract by the Army Corps of Engineers – New Orleans District for Comite River Diversion Channel (CRDC) Reach 1.

Five S Group is pleased to announce we have been awarded a Prime contract by the Army Corps of Engineers – New Orleans District for Comite River Diversion Channel (CRDC) Reach 1. 

This $37,900,000 contract will involve the excavation of approximately one mile of the channel, placement of bedding material and riprap, demolition, clearing and grubbing, the relocation of a 48-inch sewer force main, cast-in-place structural concrete, and other associated features of work.  Five-S will be self-performing all heavy civil earthwork and material supply while also directing the activities of numerous local subcontractors engaged in the performance of their specialties.  Working together, the Five-S team is committed to extending our record of success on the CRDC and bringing this vital flood control project one step closer to completion. 

 

COMITE RIVER DIVERSION CHANNEL REACH 2A

Five-S provided all necessary labor, tools, equipment, and personnel to perform the work according to the contract plans and specifications; including channel excavation from STA 229+00 to STA 291+00. Five-S utilized two dozen tractors, pans, excavators, trucks, and any other equipment necessary to maintain production of 8,000 CY or more per day; excavation spoils were placed in North and South Stockpile areas. Five-S maintained a successful dewatering plan for the open excavations in accordance with the SWPP. At completion, Five-S successfully moved over 1,800,000 cubic yards of material on the reach 2A portion of the Comite River Diversion Channel project.

COMITE MCHUGH ROAD BRIDGE

As a subcontractor to the Prime, Coastal Constructors, Inc., Five-S Group performed clearing and grubbing of this 40-acre job site, and excavated 234,730 CY of material to create a channel. The excavated material was placed just outside of the channel excavation, creating a fully and semi-compacted embankment. Once that channel was completed, Five-S laid geotextile fabric and installed 12,680 TN of bedding stone and 14,071 TN of R90, and 9,075 TN of R650 rip rap.
