First, on behalf of Five-S and its team members, we welcome you to enjoy our debut of the Five-S Connection newsletter, as we are now publicizing our newsletter for the world to keep up and know more about Five S and what we are doing!

At Five S, we combine ambition, innovation, and extreme teamwork to develop plans for our customers that overcome the most daunting challenges for their projects’ success. We are a Louisiana construction firm that performs civil construction services as well as material supply and logistics services. We service the Gulf Coast region and the south-central U.S.  Five-S has numerous active projects along the Gulf. This month’s project spotlight is the Port Arthur LNG project, where Five S supports the early site development needs of this monumental LNG export facility. We have serviced and performed work on six Gulf Coast LNG projects so far. As we finish out our tenth year in business, we aim to capitalize on our success and continue focusing on overcoming supply chain challenges and other economic and geopolitical struggles to continue the development of the Gulf Coast energy markets, to bring clean energy to the world. Without our people at Five S, we wouldn’t be here today. Thank you to the Five S staff and team, keep it up; the best is yet to come.

Labor Day pays tribute to the contributions and achievements of American workers. It was created by the labor movement in the late 19th century and became a federal holiday in 1894. In the late 1800s, at the height of the Industrial Revolution, the average American worked 12-hour days and seven-day weeks in order to make a basic living. Americans worked in dangerous conditions and despite restrictions, children as young as 5 & 6 worked in mills, factories, and mines. On September 5, 1882, 10,000 workers took unpaid time off to march from City Hall to Union Square in New York City, holding the first Labor Day parade in U.S. history. Congress would legalize the holiday 12 years later. Labor Day is always observed on the first Monday in the month of September.

SAFETY SPOTLIGHT

JULIAN ROMAN

There have been many times as the job progresses that Julian has been ahead in thinking of the task to come. He seems to automatically put things in place that will be needed to further the work without asking or needing direction. He is critical in planning the safety aspects of each task on every project. As we plan all the changes that have taken place on PALNG, he is ahead of the curve which makes implementing each change a smoother transition. It is apparent that he has been taught to look forward and address any upcoming concerns. He is very responsive to each employee and their needs to perform their task. He is an asset, keeps a level head, and can pass along the end goal to other employees. He is a great team member and a leader in keeping safety at the core of our work.

Jose Domingo Lopez

Jose is known for going above and beyond what is expected of him. Mr. Lopez is always willing to help others no matter what the task is. He reports unsafe conditions and is always proactive in making sure that any and all potential hazards are resolved thoroughly. Jose is an excellent team member to have. We appreciate the dedication and hard work he has offered on multiple projects. In addition to this, he is a prime example of our Number One Core Value which is: Safety! Jose can be depended on to look at all the details and examine situations critically and carefully to be sure that no potential incidents will take place.

QUARTERLY HELPING HANDS PROJECT

Five-S has challenged our employees to bring in items that will be donated to the Baton Rouge domestic violence shelter and Family Services of Southeast Texas. These items are everyday items that we normally do not think twice about. Things like toothpaste, soap, blankets, and pillows. These all fall in the category of items that are always greatly needed at the DV and Family Services Shelters. We will collect these items in our offices for the remainder of the third quarter. We challenge all of our employees to make at least one donation per week.

Just like the strong foundations we build for projects, we are building our company’s culture on a strong foundation of trust and collaboration.
